Brigitte And Brigitte/Up And Down (Region 1) - Moullet, Luc
Releasedatum: 22 januari 2007
Luc Moullet, original member of the French New Wave and long-time critic for Cahiers du Cinema, directed these two unique comedies with a modern eye and an absurdist wit.

In BRIGITTE AND BRIGITTE, the titular heroines—one born in the Alps and the other the Pyrenees--meet by chance and then move to Paris together. They enroll at the Sorbonne to take crash courses in cinephilia. Costarring roles and cameos by famous directors provide part of the fun as New Wave legends Claude Chabrol and Eric Rohmer mingle with French filmmaker Andre Techine and Hollywood maverick Sam Fuller.

The Harvard Film Archive says BRIGITTE AND BRIGITTE, "…stands as the finest period document of French cinephilia." Partly inspired by Dadaist playwright Alfred Jarry’s The Passion Considered as an Uphill Bicycle Race, UP AND DOWN follows a group of cyclists as they struggle up the winding slopes of the Alps. Some cheat; some conduct business; and one wears a tutu!
