Once In A Lifetime R2 Ws (Uk Import) -
Releasedatum: 25 september 2006
Documentary telling the story the football team that had America at its feet. In the 1970s, the New York Cosmos became the football equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters, signing giants of the game such as Pele, Carlos Alberto and many more. Egos, impulses and cultures clashes created a larger than life atmosphere among both players and the club's executives with a fan base that included everyone from the worlds of fashion, music, art, politics and business. The Cosmos drew crowds of 80,000 fans and won several league championships, with eye-catching football. As media attention snowballed, so did the star status of the glamorous footballers, who became notorious players on the legendary 1970s New York City party circuit at Studio 54. The dream however could not be sustained, and the team imploded in the early 1980s. As ratings dropped, the US TV networks pulled their financing and the brief but glorious US love affair with the beautiful game was over.
