Very loosely based on Sheridan Lefenu's sapphic novella Carmilla, which also inspired Hammer's Vampire Lovers and Lust for a Vampire ,Vampyr is a beautiful and disturbing film. Full of powerful gothic imagery imagery and surreal sequences the overall effect is both unique, disquieting and at times almost incoherent. It's story centres on a young man who becomes involved with two sisters who are turn under the influence of a macabre older female whom the young man believes is a vampire...
